Over the past month there has been an increase in the amount of worldwide Phishing activity leading to several compromised computer and email accounts within our #CapFam. Please be suspicious of any email message that asks you to enter or verify personal information, through a website or by replying to the message itself. Never reply to or click the links in such a message. If you ever feel that your email or your Capital username may have been compromised, you may always go to: PWChange.Capital.Edu and immediately change your user account password.
Other ways you can protect yourself and our #CapFam from Phishing and random cyber attacks:
- If you suspect an email is not valid or is suspicious, please forward the email in question to abuse@capital.edu
- Spear Phishing Information
- Tax Scams and Consumer Alerts
- Safe Computing: National Cyber Security Alliance
- Gaming: Cyber Security Tips for Gamers
Again, if you ever need assistance, please feel free to contact the CapIT Help Desk at: helpdesk@capital.edu or by phone, 614-236-6508.
